The name ✿ the flower
Why Chicory
New Orleans has been mixing roasted chicory root into its coffee since the 1800s. It started as a way to stretch the coffee supply, and it became what the city’s coffee is known for.
It’s a flower, too. In 1751 Linnaeus published the Horologium Florae, a clock made of plants that open and close at set times, so you could tell the hour by looking at a flowerbed. Chicory is one of the earliest: it opens around four in the morning and closes by midday.
My drawing here opens and closes on the real flower’s schedule, in full bloom over your morning coffee and a tight bud by the afternoon.

About
Hi, I’m Allison
I’m a graphic designer and illustrator, and Chicory is my studio. I work across the whole table - brand manuals and logo suites, book covers with matching interiors, gig posters, menus, custom game-interface themes, stream packages, and paintings in both pixels and acrylic.
Everything starts analog: sketches, studies, and mood-boards. Then it gets built properly and packaged for you. I supply crisp clean vectors, print-ready files, and everything you’ll need for your projects. If you want design that feels grown rather than generated, you’re in the right place.
Questions
Before you email
Answers to the questions people ask most.
What do you actually make?
Mostly brand identities and logos, book and print design (including full interiors), game and stream graphics, and illustration, both digital and acrylic. If your idea doesn’t fit one of those, ask anyway. Custom commissions are always open.
How much does a project cost?
Every project is quoted individually, since a simple logo and a full identity system are very different amounts of work. Send me a description and your deadline and I’ll get back to you with a price.
How long does it take?
It depends on the project. You’ll get a timeline along with your quote before any work starts. I usually reply to new inquiries within one to two days.
How many revisions do I get?
Every project includes two rounds of revisions, after we’ve picked a direction together at the sketch stage.
What files do I get at the end?
Every format your project needs, ready for print and web. Brand identity projects also come with a full brand guide and a one-page quick guide.
Do you work remotely?
Yes, I work remotely with clients anywhere. We can talk over video calls and share files online.
Can you do game UI or stream packages? I don’t see any here.
Yes, it’s one of my four main services. I just haven’t added examples to the site yet, so ask and I’ll send you some.
Do you take on concept and passion projects?
Yes. Some of the work on this site started as student or personal projects, including the Folgers rebrand.
Why the name Chicory?
It’s a coffee ingredient and a flower that keeps its own hours. There’s more in the Why Chicory section above.
