The brief

A robotics team’s branding ends up on a lot of different things: the competition robot, recruitment posters, sponsor presentations, t-shirts, stickers, and a technical binder. Most of it gets made by team members who aren’t designers, so along with a logo, the team needed clear rules and ready-to-use files.

The logo

The full lockup sets TEAM FUSION 364 in a bold condensed sans-serif, with an orbiting atom between FUSION and 364. The atom also works by itself as a logo mark at small sizes.

There are four versions: the atom mark, a horizontal lockup, a simplified horizontal lockup for tight spaces, and a vertical lockup. Each one comes in black, white, and orange, so there’s a version for any background.

The brand guide

I designed the brand guide to look like a retro sci-fi computer screen. The cover is a login page: the username field says Brand Guide, the password field says TeamFusion364, and a [LOADING…] tag sits in the corner. The next page says Access Granted, followed by the table of contents.

Every page uses the same style: HUD frames and brackets, dotted connector lines, terminal-style labels, and a grainy texture over the orange and navy.

The palette is built for light or dark backgrounds, with tints and shades of the orange and blue plus a set of grays. Headers are set in Orbitron, body text in Lucida Console, and Overseer is used for special display type.

Logo rules

The last page shows the simplified lockup, the logo mark, and the full lockup with their spacing guides, and lists three rules: don’t stretch, skew, or change the logo; only use the approved color versions; and always leave space around it.

The one-page guide

There’s also a one-page version of the guide with the logos, colors, fonts, and usage rules on a single sheet, so it’s easy to print out and keep nearby.
